One UI 8

Samsung reportedly stop unlocking your bootloader from Galaxy devices with its One UI 8 update. As per the report by SammyGuru in the US, bootloader unlock is no longer available. Specifically, the “OEM Unlocking” developer option has vanished.

This has been observed both in beta builds on Galaxy S25 Ultra, as well as on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 which ship with One UI 8 pre-installed. A code snippet from Samsung’s firmware shows this, as does further user findings.

There will still be a way to unlock the bootloader, though, it just won’t be user-accessible. Samsung will still have a way to do it when needed, but the user won’t, which is what’s changing here.

It’s still unclear if the One UI 8 update will make this change on devices that are already on the market, but it’s entirely possible. In recent years, it’s become more common for Android manufacturers to disable this ability.

Samsung Galaxy S25

Earlier it was reported that the South Korean tech giant Samsung was expected to use Snapdragon or Exynos chipsets in its next-generation Galaxy S26 series.

Now, the new report suggests that the company is looking to ditch Snapdragon entirely in favour of Exynos. However, the latest development points back towards a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S26 — but with an interesting twist. To recall, Samsung last used the Exynos 2400 chipset in the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus, while the S24 Ultra was powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

The latest Galaxy S25 lineup phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Here’s the twist, the company is all set to use once again Snapdragon chips in the upcoming Galaxy S26, but not the usual version everyone is expecting.

As per the Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung might actually be manufacturing its own version of Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.

However. the Galaxy S26 series might feature a Samsung-made Snapdragon chip with a different model number — SM8850S, compared to TSMC’s SM8850 version.
